Dr. Agazi Gebreselassie obtained his medical degree from Addis Ababa University in Ethiopia. He trained in internal medicine at Howard University Hospital. He then worked as an internist at Johns Hopkins Community Physicians.

He completed his fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Howard University Hospital. He then pursued a training in advanced/therapeutic endoscopy at Virginia Tech Carilion Clinic.

His interests include all areas of gastroenterology including colon cancer prevention, complications of liver disease, inflammatory bowel disease, Barrett’s esophagus, therapeutic endoscopy, luminal dilation and stenting, endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography and endoscopic ultrasonography.

Dr. Gebreselassie is a member of the American Gastroenterology Association, The American College of Gastroenterology and the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and is Board Certified in Gastroenterology.
